Hey guys, Fred deleted a comment of mine because I called Kamala Harris Aunt Kamimah. I’ve used that phrase frequently in the past (often in conjunction with Uncle Joe) and someone even complained about it in the den, but no action was taken. I was pretty sure it was okay.
While I guess the comment inherently has racial overtones in that Aunt Jemimah is black and so is Kamala Harris, I don’t think it’s racist. I make the comparison because, much like Aunt Jemimah, Kamala Harris projects a superficial, fake personality in her public appearances. I don’t think those are black stereotypes – that’s just our VP in action.
I like the joke, but I’ll stop making it if that’s the rule. I just wanted to ask for clarification on the point.
