Wombosi has read several times in The Den now, that “Karen” is allegedly not racial.
However, virtually any source our there disagrees with your “rulings” (mostly driven by KS) and very clearly defines “Karen” as a middle-aged,privileged white woman.
Wikipedia: “Karen is a pejorative term used in the United States and other English-speaking countries for a woman perceived as entitled or demanding beyond the scope of what is appropriate or necessary. A common stereotype is that of a white woman who uses her privilege to demand her own way at the expense of others. Depictions also include demanding to “speak to the manager”, anti-vaccination beliefs, being racist, or sporting a particular bob cut hairstyle. As of 2020, the term was increasingly being used as a general-purpose term of disapproval for middle-aged white women.”
Dictionary.com: “What does Karen mean? Karen is a pejorative slang term for an obnoxious, angry, entitled, and often racist middle-aged white woman who uses her privilege to get her way or police other people’s behaviors.”
UrbanDictionary.com: “Karen — The stereotypical name associated with rude, obnoxious and insufferable middle aged white women.”
NY Post: “What is a Karen? The dreaded ‘white lady’ meme nickname explained […]”
So, while you are the final authority for rules on your little hill, you need to be aware that you are indeed flat-out making this one up. Maybe, there are some people using some altered version, such as “Black Karen” or “Male Karen,” but “a Karen” is most certainly tied to Caucasian women.
Just food for thought with references beyond “‘coz I say so”… 😉
