Personal Attacks

Posted on 2020-06-132020-06-13 by OldSundance

I’m trying to figure out how to navigate personal attacks.  How some for instance are not cause for deletion while others are.

I can be called a snowflake but I can’t call someone a dumbass.  I fail to see the difference, they are both “personal attacks”.  I can be called ignorant but I cannot call someone stupid, or I can’t even ask, “are you stupid”.

I mean either it’s a personal attack or it is not a personal attack.  Any rationalization that the harshness of words matters is absurd.   And certainly a question is not an attack by any stretch.

So, you either don’t allow personal attacks of any kind and all moderators act consistent with that or you just drop the rule if it is too hard to figure out what is a personal attack and what isn’t.
