I saw a post earlier in the history of The Den that spoke of a member losing 8000 up votes. This is a known bug that has been going around on Disqus for about a year now. It is referred to as a down vote bot. I’ve lost 8000 before then I’ve gained it back and then I lost another 8000. I just recently dropped 8000, roughly. There are people who lost 300,000+ up votes. They even go into negative votes. Members have said that their account shows -50,000 -100,000. Accounts are not corrupted it’s a down vote bot that somebody has placed within Disqus or found some sort of loophole within it and they are exploiting it. Disqus says they are working on it(I doubt it). It affects everyone regardless of their political affiliation etc… There really is nothing you can do about it. The only thing you can really do is put people on a white list so they are not spammed out.
What is interesting is I went to the Discuss Disqus forum to see if there were any updates on this down vote bug. I posted in one of the threads and the very next day I dropped 8000 votes. Which makes me think somebody’s watching these threads and is purposely doing it somehow. I’m not losing votes as of now, but the bug has been known to drop people for 20 votes per day, 100 votes per day, 1000 votes per day etc…
