I recently had a comment removed with the note: “Please refrain from using real names in your posts. This could be considered doxxing and will not be allowed on this site. Deleted”. My comment included a first name and the initial of last name.
No problem with that. But the “could be” implies that it’s not necessarily doxxing. I have a clarifying question.
I want to make sure I’m correct that if someone has themselves publicly disclosed personal information about themselves, then it’s not doxxing to post that information.
An example of this is that on the ‘Common sense WVA Follows Trump Admin …’ thread someone recently disclosed personal information about themselves to me that he was a male(XY) who is married to another male(XY). So it wouldn’t be doxxing to post that information, since the person chose to disclose it themselves.
Same would be true about other personal information, such as someone’s age, where someone lives, if they were a cancer survivor, or even their name if they themselves chose to disclose it.
Thanks.
