Ok hear me out please. If after reading this your opinions are unchanged so be it.
It’s been long enough. My old buddy Shawsy loves posting at BNR. He’s a smart fellow that has a lot to offer on the threads. He is a Liberal, but he also has the ability to criticize those on the left, as he does to those on the right. He was banned almost 2 full years ago (2 years!) for repeated instances of moderator interference. 2 years is a long time to keep a CM off the site.
I’ve had my fair share of back and forths with Shawsy, some more unpleasant than others, but I really do believe, after being banned for as long as he has, that he would follow the rules, and not bash moderation, if allowed back.
Would you consider a one-week trial run? Release the chains and see if he can follow the rules. The first misstep would be his last. Back to the ban list he will go.
He has told me he knows he fucked up, and has said he wouldn’t do it again.
What do you say mods? Are you ready to take a chance and offer a lifeline to someone who genuinely wants to be a contributing member at BNR?
