I would like to respond to the Unknown Sleepers comment on my recent post in the Den, as he closed the thread before I had chance to respond.
I said at the time the cartoon I posted was rather strong, and my intention was never to offend, but to highlight the parallels between Nazi Germany’s treatment of the Jews versus today’s Israeli treatment of Palestinians.
However, I think a blanket ban of all Nazi imagery is both naive, short-sighted and very wrong. This is a classic example of cancel culture; obliterate any appearance of it, airbrush it from history and all is right with the world. It never happened. We don’t need to discuss it.
While we are at it, should we deny that the holocaust every happened? That the idea is too unpalatable for people today to accept? Should we brush all instances of things we don’t like under the carpet? If we are to show the effects of such atrocities, we also need to see it’s perpetrators and the regime that created this monstrosity. There are contemporary parallels everywhere, and they NEED to be seen. I implore you, DO NOT DO THIS.
The old adage “Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” was never truer.

Rawr
