Clarification on Definition of “Personal Attack”

Posted on 2019-12-242020-02-05 by SrAgri

What is the definition of “insults” or “personal attacks” on Disqus?

The rules clearly state:

No insults or personal attacks against either the moderators or other posters.

I have always understood that to mean no name-calling, though I have seen it applied to other mean-spirited implications, as well.  I have always done my best to comply with this.  A few times, I’ve been told that something is an insult that I really didn’t think was an insult, but I adjusted my posting accordingly.

In a recent thread, I noticed several direct insults by one poster personally attacking another poster.  I reported them.  One was removed, so it was obviously in violation of the rules, but then I was threatened with a ban for “flagging comments which are not in violation of the rules”.

Column: Will Washington media expose the liars who spun the Trump-Russia hoax?

Can we get more specific direction on what should and should not be flagged for staff review?
