Hi Folks,
I have a general question about the “parliamentary propriety” of labels that do not fall in the usual insult/not an insult area.
You know I’ve complained about the misgendering taking place from our far right contributors on any topic involving trans people. TUS has explained that while it’s a vile practice it’s not one we flag or ban here.
I’ve also been repeatedly harassed by people who don’t understand moderates and been labeled a leftist, a liberal, a democrat, and of course the ever popular jack booted fascist. While all but the last one isn’t offensive to me in the least, it is incorrect.
Lately one of your mods has taken to moderating my posts when I discuss the cult of Donald Trump. While I understand that the term cultist has many negative connotations, I’m honestly at a loss for what term to use for people who continue to regurgitate long debunked lies and conspiracy theories, continue to support everything a vile morally bankrupt criminal does, and spouts cult mantras and veneration of the cult leader in place of actual arguments or rebuttals. So I stick with the factually accurate description they’ve eared: cultist.
If some people feel that is a mischaracterisation, they are welcome to argue against it. I do not feel it warrants the removal of my posts, as I do not believe other people, purposefully or not, mischaracterising me or trans people or anyone else deserve removal (after TUS’s explanation).
I’m open to suggestions for other ways to describe what is going on, and I would also appreciate a review of the practice of removing my comments for this.
Thank you.
