This is to follow up on BiM’s Den post:

I am not commenting on BN&R anymore. You can consider it a boycott or a protest – that seems fitting. I have a few reasons, which all add together, but mainly:
First, I don’t want to look at people being shot. It isn’t an issue of whether it was self-defense or not. And it isn’t an issue of too much “gore.” It’s one person shooting another.
Second, the choice of Grun42 as a mod. I don’t know exactly what goes into the process of choosing mods. I do know they are volunteers. I know you look for a balance of conservative and liberal mods. And I know, for the most part, even the ones I “disagree” with do a fine job. As a commenter, Grun42 appears to be fixated on guns and gun violence. If he doesn’t “advocate” violence according to the channel standards, he absolutely does by my standards. As far as I’m concerned, making him into a mod is tantamount to endorsing that commentary.
I understand also the channel rules allow a ton of leeway, and I’ve taken advantage of that myself. But here the channel is setting a bad example. I felt similarly about Loldrew Loldrew becoming a mod, some time back. But his propagandizing is so over the top and he does so little commenting or actual moderating, it seemed safe to mostly ignore him. This is different. It’s not nearly as funny.
I have respect for the channel owner and just about all of the mods. Having glanced at other comment boards and disqus channels, this small, balanced, self-contained community was always the most appealing. I won’t rule out a return, but don’t expect it anytime soon. Thanks for your time, and best of luck.
